After our mentoring episode Old but Gold - Basic Science Edition, we are now super eager to hear our clinical science fellows which problems they are facing. And most important, if they have found solutions to those problems! Also episode 5 is designed in a peer-to-peer mentoring spirit, so that younger PhD students are provided with tips and tricks to face their everyday problems.
Doing your PhD is not only about knowledge. Of course you will learn a lot about science and medicine and you will definitely be a real expert in your field. But a PhD has also a lot to do with personal growth and with regards to this finding answers might be more troublesome than a PubMed research. Thus, episode 4 is designed in a peer-to-peer mentoring spirit. Older PhD students helping younger ones.
One could think that all students within the Med Uni are more or less enrolled in the same PhD program, doing the more or less the same stuff and following more or less the same daily routine, right?
Wrong! The Med Uni enables young medical doctors and researchers to have a closer look in clincs AND science. But how does this work? Listen to episode 3 and have a little sneak peak on the daily lives of science and clinical PhD students.
Starting a PhD is never easy. It takes quite a lot of time to get orientation and to learn how and where to set priorities. Usually, other "older" PhD students are a contact point for the younger ones. But, what if the older PhD students are not really here? In our second episode we chat about how we managed to start in distance, during the covid pandemic.
You are a PhD student? You are a fan of coffee before, meanwhile and after work? You are a fan of the Trapezfisch on Fridays, the most famous dish of the AKH canteen? Then let us introduce our new podcast series!
We are the Young Scientist Association, a student organisation from students for students. In episode 1 "Anybody here?" we will entertain you with little stories on who we are, what we do and how we ended up here.
